VELAMMAL’S GUKESH WINS  MENORCA OPEN CHESS  TOURNEY

Grandmaster Gukesh D, Std X of Velammal Vidyalaya, Mel Aynambakkam has won the First Prize, his second title in eight days at the  Menorca Open Chess Tourney and earned 1,600 Euros as prize money held in Menorca, Spain, on Sunday.

GM Gukesh, winner of the La Roda Open  scored a title-clinching victory over his senior compatriot B. Adhiban to finish with six points from seven rounds.

He gained 13.4 ELO  points and raised his live rating to around 2660 and  climbed into the top 80 of the world rankings.
