SCI-EDU AWARDS 2026 Celebrates National Science Day with Distinguished Honour to Educators, Scientists, and Tamil Science Magazine

Chennai, February 22, 2026 – In commemoration of National Science Day 2026, the SCI-EDU AWARDS 2026 ceremony was held on February 22, 2026, at the IITM Research Park, Taramani, Chennai, bringing together eminent scientists, academicians, and educators to celebrate excellence in science education and research.

The ceremony witnessed the participation of distinguished dignitaries from across the scientific and academic spectrum.

Dr. T. RamPrabhu, Scientist and Joint Director, DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Bengaluru, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized the critical role of scientific temper and innovation in nation-building and commended the efforts of educators in shaping future generations.

The Guests of Honour included Prof. Dr. D. Arivudai Nambi, Director-Centre for Students Affairs and Professor, Department of Mathematics, Anna University; Prof. Dr. Sultan Ahmed Ismail, Member, State Planning Commission, Government of Tamil Nadu; and Dr. Kannan Pugazendhi, Co-Founder, SPARRC, Chennai. Each shared insights on the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and grassroots science communication.

A highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award 2026 to Prof. Dr. D. Viswanathan, Former Vice Chancellor, Anna University, and currently Rector Research & Development at Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, in recognition of his decades of contribution to engineering education and research leadership.

In a proud moment for Tamil science magazine, Valarum Ariviyal (Quarterly Issue) was conferred the Best Tamil Science Magazine Award – 2026. The award was received by magazine, Prof. Dr E.K.T Sivakumar.

The event also honored the distinguished academicians and professionals from across Tamil Nadu who were part of the awards jury panel.

The event was coordinated by Mr. B. Manoharan, Mr. N. Krishnamurthy, Mrs. Malaimalagal M V, and Mr. Solaiselvan A, under the aegis of ARP Events. The organizers expressed gratitude to all participants, dignitaries, and supporters for making the event a grand success in advancing the cause of science and education.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks and a networking lunch, fostering meaningful interactions among the scientific and academic community.

Education
