Chennai, 8 March 2026: Strengthening its commitment to advanced cancer diagnosis and treatment, Iswarya Hospital today inaugurated the Iswarya Cancer Centre at its OMR Taramani facility in Chennai. With this launch, the cancer centre introduces cutting-edge oncology services including high-precision radiotherapy, immunotherapy, complex cancer surgeries, and an AI-powered PET-CT scan, enabling highly accurate early detection and evaluation of cancer.

The centre was inaugurated by Chief Guest Sathyaraj, acclaimed actor and public figure, in the presence of Dr. S. Rajasundaram, CEO, Iswarya Hospital, and Dr. Arun Muthuvel, Managing Director, Iswarya Hospital, along with the hospital’s multidisciplinary oncology team.

The newly launched centre brings together comprehensive oncology services under one roof including surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, bone marrow transplant, pediatric oncology, preventive oncology, nuclear medicine and theranostics, onco-pathology, and palliative care. The centre is also equipped to perform complex oncological surgeries for various cancers, supported by advanced operation theatre infrastructure and specialized surgical teams.

The facility is further strengthened by advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies including AI-powered PET-CT imaging and high-precision radiotherapy systems, designed to improve accuracy in cancer detection, staging, and treatment delivery. The centre also offers immunotherapy, an advanced treatment approach that enhances the body’s immune system to recognize and fight cancer cells more effectively.

Speaking at the launch, Dr. S. Rajasundaram, CEO, Iswarya Hospital, said “Cancer continues to be one of the most significant health challenges in India today. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research and the National Cancer Registry Programme, new cancer cases are projected to rise to around 15.7 lakh cases by 2025, with breast, lung, and oral cancers remaining among the most commonly diagnosed cancers in the country. Breast cancer alone is expected to account for more than two lakh new cases annually, making it the leading cancer among Indian women.”

One of the biggest challenges we face is late diagnosis, which significantly reduces survival outcomes. The introduction of AI-powered PET-CT technology and high-precision radiotherapy at the Iswarya Cancer Centre allows us to detect disease earlier, assess its spread more accurately, and guide treatment decisions with greater confidence. Added Dr S Rajasundaram

Dr. Arun Muthuvel, Managing Director, Iswarya Hospital, said “At Iswarya, our focus has always been on combining advanced technology with compassionate care. The launch of the Iswarya Cancer Centre represents a major milestone in expanding our oncology services. By bringing together expert specialists, complex cancer surgery capabilities, advanced imaging technologies, immunotherapy, and integrated treatment facilities under one roof, we aim to deliver comprehensive cancer care that patients can trust. Early detection and timely treatment are critical to improving outcomes.”

The AI-powered PET-CT scan available at the centre enhances diagnostic accuracy by combining advanced imaging with artificial intelligence-driven analysis. This enables clinicians to detect cancer earlier, monitor treatment response more effectively, and design highly personalized treatment plans for patients.

With the launch of the Iswarya Cancer Centre in OMR Taramani, the hospital strengthens its mission of delivering timely diagnosis, advanced treatment, complex cancer surgeries, high-precision radiotherapy, immunotherapy, and multidisciplinary cancer care for patients across Chennai and beyond under one roof.
