20th April 2024, Chennai: Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialties Centre (DMDSC) and Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF), today honoured Padma Bhushan Mr. Kris Goapalakrishnan, Infosys Co-founder & Trustee – Pratiksha Trust, with the prestigious DMDSC Lifetime Achievement Award 2024 in recognition for his pivotal role in advancing medical research in general and brain research in particular. The award was presented to Mr. Kris Gopalakrishnan by Dr. T.S Surendran, Chairman – Sankara Nethralaya, in the presence of Dr. V Mohan, Chairman – DMDSC & MDRF, Dr. Ranjit Unnikrishnan, Vice Chairman – DMDSC & MDRF, Dr. R.M Anjana, Managing Director – DMDSC & MDRF and other dignitaries.
On this occasion, Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialties Centre and Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF) also jointly inaugurated India’s first Diabetes Museum – Madras Diabetes Research Foundation Diabetes Museum at the MDRF facility in Siruseri. The facility was formally inaugurated by Mr. Kris Gopalakrishnan along with management from MDRF and top management of TANUVAS who helped MDRF set up the Museum. As a globally renowned Centre of Excellence for Diabetes research, the Diabetes Museum at MDRF will be an exclusive museum dedicated to honouring and chronicling the decades long history of Diabetes research, its early treatment, milestones, scientific research and other technological breakthroughs by senior scientists across the globe.
Commenting on the occasion, Dr. V. Mohan, Chairman – DMDSC & MDRF said, “Mr. Kris Gopalakrishnan’s dedication to brain research is of immense national importance. His philanthropic initiatives, such as the Centre for Brain Research, are instrumental in addressing critical health challenges, including neurodegenerative disorders. Receiving the award, Padma Bhushan Shri.
