Hamsa Rehab Celebrates Excellence in Physiotherapy with Awards and CME Programme in Chennai

Chennai, September 20, 2026: Hamsa Rehab conducted the Physiotherapy Excellence Awards 2026 and Continuing Medical Education (CME) Programme at Raj Park Hotel, Teynampet, Chennai, bringing together more than 150 physiotherapists and rehabilitation professionals. Held under the theme “One Profession, Many Voices, Countless Achievements,” the event was organised to recognise the significant contribution of physiotherapists to rehabilitation and was among the first initiatives of its kind in Chennai to bring together professional recognition and continuing education on this scale. The programme provided a platform to celebrate professional achievements, exchange knowledge and encourage meaningful interaction within the physiotherapy and rehabilitation community.

With 120 beds across two cities and five centres in Chennai and Vellore, Hamsa Rehab is a comprehensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation organisation providing multidisciplinary care for individuals with neurological, spinal, orthopaedic and other rehabilitation needs. Its multidisciplinary team includes rehabilitation physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and swallowing therapists, psychologists, dietitians and nursing professionals, working together with a focus on improving function, independence and quality of life.

A central highlight of the event was the Physiotherapy Excellence Awards 2026, presented by Hamsa Rehab to recognise contributions across six categories. The Young Achiever Award was presented to Aravinda Suresh and Subbaiah; the Clinical Excellence Award to Dr. Arivoli, Dr. K. Y. Kiran, Dr. Prakash and Dr. Divya Karthick; the Research & Innovation Award to Dr. Thiyagarajan and Dr. Balamuragan JanakiRaman; the Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. S. S. Subramanian; the Academic Excellence Award to Dr. Arunachalam and Dr. Mahesh P. G.; and the Community Service Award to Dr. Solu, Dr. Navamani and Dr. Ramasubramanian. The awards recognised contributions to clinical practice, research, education, innovation, community service and the advancement of physiotherapy.

The CME programme featured discussions on contemporary topics in physiotherapy and rehabilitation, including artificial intelligence and technology, neurorehabilitation, rehabilitation-centre practice, patient adherence and outcome measurement. A key highlight was the expert panel discussion, “Can AI & Technology Replace the Physiotherapist?”, moderated by Dr. G. Balamurali, which explored how emerging technologies can complement clinical expertise and support patient-centred rehabilitation.

Speaking about the initiative, Dr. G. Balamurali, Founder and Managing Director of Hamsa Rehab, said, “Physiotherapy continues to evolve with advances in technology, research and clinical practice. While technology can enhance assessment, treatment and rehabilitation outcomes, the knowledge, clinical judgement, empathy and human connection of the physiotherapist remain central to patient care. Through initiatives such as these, we hope to recognise excellence, encourage continuous learning and strengthen the physiotherapy community.”

He also mentioned that Hamsa Rehab is developing one of the most advanced robotic and AI-powered rehabilitation centres in Chennai, which is expected to become operational before the end of this year, further strengthening its focus on technology-enabled, evidence-based and patient-centred rehabilitation.

The event concluded with dinner and networking, bringing together members of the physiotherapy and rehabilitation community to connect, exchange experiences and celebrate professional achievements.
