Kauvery Hospital Alwarpet Organises Night Walk for Lupus Awareness

Chennai, 31st May 2026: Kauvery Hospital Alwarpet successfully organised a Night Walk for Lupus Awareness at Elliot’s Beach Road, Besant Nagar, Chennai, bringing together patients, caregivers, doctors, healthcare professionals, and members of the public to raise awareness about lupus and show solidarity with those living with the condition.
The walkathon, led by the Department of Rheumatology at Kauvery Hospital Alwarpet, was aimed at creating greater public understanding about lupus, a chronic autoimmune condition that can affect different parts of the body including the skin, joints, kidneys, heart, lungs, blood cells, and brain. Since symptoms can vary widely from person to person, early diagnosis, timely treatment, and regular medical follow-up play an important role in improving quality of life.
The Night Walk was thoughtfully planned to make participation more comfortable for people living with lupus, as many patients experience sensitivity to sunlight and UV exposure, which can trigger or worsen symptoms.
The one-hour walk, held from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, saw enthusiastic participation from the community and created a strong sense of solidarity among attendees. The event highlighted the importance of awareness, compassion, and timely medical intervention in supporting people affected by lupus.
Speaking about the hospital’s continued commitment to community health, Dr. Aravindan Selvaraj, Co-founder and Executive Director of Kauvery Group of Hospitals, said, ““Lupus is a condition that requires awareness, timely diagnosis, and continued care.
This walkathon is a reminder that patients should not feel alone in their journey. As a healthcare institution, Kauvery Hospital is committed to supporting patients through advanced treatment, multidisciplinary care, and initiatives that help build greater public understanding .”
The event concluded with an overwhelming show of support from participants, reinforcing Kauvery Hospital’s mission to create a healthier, more informed, and compassionate society.
